Recent Tri-Cities High School graduate, Isaiah Williams has signed a scholarship to attend and compete for the University of Mobile, in Mobile, Alabama. Isaiah will be a member of the Track & Field squad beginning fall 2014. Isiah’s dedication and commitment has been evident and shown through his growth over the past three years he has been a member of Quicksilver Track Club. As always we want to thank all the parents, and coaches for their continued efforts. Congratulations Isaiah!
Former Quicksilver athlete, and Junior Olympic National Championship qualifier (summer 08), Charles Robinson garnered NCAA All American status this past weekend at NCAA DII Championships. Robinson, a sophomore at Virginia State ran the 400 meters in a pr (personal record) time of 46.76 out of lane 3 to place 6th overall. The NCAA DII Championships were held from May 22-24, 2014 at Grand Valley State in Allendale, MI. The complete meet results can be found: here.
Former Quicksilver teammates of Charles Robinson, and 2012 Olympians – Christian Taylor and Amaechi (Cristian) Morton competed over the past weekend at the inaugural IAAF World Relays. Morton, along with 3 fellow country-men representing Nigeria competed in the 4×400 meter relay. The team (Nigeria) failed to qualify to the finals, placing 4th and running a Season Best (SB) time of 3:04.48 in a Heat 2 of 3 which featured Team USA and the Jamaican National team. Morton ran the second leg. Also in the same heat was, QTC alumni Triple Jump gold medalist Christian Taylor, running the 3rd leg for Team USA. Team USA would qualify and enter the finals with the 4th fastest time. In a most exciting fashion, Taylor and Team USA went on to win gold in the 4×400 meter relay running a time of 2:57.25. Christian ran the 3rd leg of the relay, and was recorded unofficially running a 44.6 split. Complete meet information can be found: here.
