After enjoying a successful campaign throughout the past 3 years competing in the jumps amongst the world ranks – which include a Gold medal in both the World Championships and 2012 Olympic Games – QTC alum Christian Taylor took on a new task for the 2014 season: achieving success in another event, the 400 meters. After opening up his 2014 season 400 meter campaign with an exciting 4×400 relay leg at the Florida Relays, Christian then went on to hold his own, clocking a personal best of 45.17 out of an outside lane, in a Drake Relays star studded race – which included Kirani James (Reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in 400 meters) and Lashawn Merritt (2008 Olympic Gold Medalist in 400 meters). Taylor is now ranked number 2 in the USA in the 400 meters. Christian recently announced via his Facebook page, that he has been selected to represent Team USA as a member on the 4×400 relays, at the 2014 IAAF World Relays to be held in the Bahamas.

Some Quicksilver alumni who are current collegiate athletes also posted great performance this past weekend. Kenneth Fisher, during his time under the guidance and support of the Quicksilver coaching staff and family, was USATF National Champion in the Long Jump, and GHSA State Champion in the Long Jump. Fisher is currently a freshman student-athlete at Bethune Cookman University. This past weekend he competed at the MEAC Conference Championships. Despite being a freshman in a loaded Long Jump field, Fisher completed the day as the MEAC Conference Champion in the Long Jump. His Long Jump mark of 25 feet 6.25 inches ranks him as the number 1 freshman in the NCAA and 12 ranked overall. Fisher also finished the meet, just missing the podium with a 4th place finish in the Triple Jump with a mark of 49 feet 8 inches. With the help of Fisher’s solid points, Bethune Cookman captured the MEAC Conference Outdoor T&F Mens Team Title for the first time in school history. You can read more about Fisher, Bethune Cookman, and their feat: here. Quicksilver Alumni and USATF All American, Charles Robinson, placed third at the CIAA Conference Championships with a time of 47.26 in the 400 meter run . Robinson is currently a Junior at Virginia State University.  Kaitlyn Taylor, Sophmore at Jacksonville University will be gearing up to compete at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships on May 16th to May 17th. Kaitlyn, an alumni of Quicksilver is currently ranked 3rd and 4th place in the Atlantic Sun Conference in the Long Jump and Triple Jump respectively.
